DARING WITH GOD

INTRODUCTION

At the beginning of the Twentieth Century, French religious congregations are going through trouble times. The Sisters of Charity of St. Louis are not spared. Will the congregation founded by Marie-Louise-Elisabeth de Lamoignon, widow Molé de Champlâtreux (Mother St. Louis) vanish?

Two options are being considered : to become secularized in France or to go to new welcoming countries. Difficult choice. Personal connections, which will be mentioned later, will help clarify the decision.

The Sisters who will leave their country will have to face at the same time a challenge, a rigorous exile, and total trust in God's Providence.

The first sisters selected for this worthwhile mission were
Sr. St.Eugénie, mistress of novices and Sr.  Marie-des-Anges.

On October 23, 1902,
Sr. St. Eugénie had bid farewell
to Mother Marie Fidèle,
General Superior of the
Sisters of Charity of St. Louis, and to the Vannes sisters; it was a moving experience, but the determination to follow God's Will was firm:
"We will see you again in heaven"!
