L'ouverture officielle du 22e Chapitre Général 2006 est vécu fraternellement au cours d'une
célébration eucharistique qui se déroule en trois lieux différents.

The official opening of the 22 nd General Chapter 2006 was held in a friendly atmosphere
during a Eucharistic celebration which h took place in three different places.

On s’accueille les unes les autres en passant un morceau
de tissu illustrant son pays d’origine.
Ce tissu remplace les drapeaux.

A group of sisters greeting one another by passing on a characteristic piece of cloth they waved earlier on to identify
the country in which they live.

La préparation pénitentielle présidée par le Père Jean-Marc Micas, pss, conclut cette partie.
The Penitential Rite presided over
by Fr. Micas, followed.

L'assemblée se rend ensuite, tissu en mains, à la salle à manger pour la liturgie de la Parole
et un repas «symbolique» de raisins et de petits pains.

Identitfication cloth in hand, all proceeded to the dining room for the Liturgy of the Word
and «symbolic meal» of grapes and small loaves of bread.

Ici, le tissu mexicain forme un cercle autour d’une assiette de raisins verts et rouges et d’un petit pain. Le pain et le vin partagés
symbolisent le concret de nos vies que nous serons appelées à partager pendant le Chapitre. La disposition du tissu signifie
l’attitude d’être ensemble et la volonté de partager avec nos Soeurs.
The Mexican identification cloth is here wrapped around a plate
of red and green grapes and a roll. The bread and grapes symbolise everyday things and remind us that a Chapter calls for sharing
on what makes our everyday life. The cloth around it expresses an attitude of togetherness as well as our willingness to share.

La Parole de Dieu est proclamée, puis chacune est invitée à partager sa réflexion à partir d'une
question: Comment la Parole de Dieu m'invite-t-elle, femme disciple du Ressuscité à vivre ce
chapitre avec Lui ? Recueillies dans un panier, les réponses seront portées
à l'autel au moment de la Présentation des dons.
The Word of God was proclaimed, and then all were invited to share on the following :
How does the Word of God invite us, women disciples of the Risen One to live this
Chapter with Him ? Gathered in a basket, answers to that question became
part of the offertory procession.

La troisième partie de la célébration a eu lieu à la chapelle.

The third part of the celebration took place in the chapel.

Devant l'autel, sont placés le tissu
représentant la France, Province Mère,
qui a donné vie à la Congrégation, et le tissu représentant le Mexique,
notre plus jeune fondation.
In front of the altar, are placed a cloth identifying France, the oldest foundation
our Mother Province and a piece of cloth
identifying Mexico, our youngest one.

Les tissus qui ont servi à identifier les pays où les
Soeurs de la Charité oeuvrent font désormais partie du décor
situé à droite de la chapelle où a lieu l'Eucharistie.

The colourful pieces of cloth identify each part of the world where Sisters of Charity of St. Louis live and work. They are now part of
she chapel display where she Holy Eucharist takes place.
