Le 22^e Chapitre Général des Sœurs de la Charité de Saint-Louis se tient du 1er au 24 juillet 2006
à l'Abbaye Saint-Gildas de Rhuys (France), dont la fondation, par saint Gildas, remonte au V1e siècle.
Cette propriété, achetée par Mère Saint-Louis, fondatrice de la Congrégation, est aujourd'hui
une maison de retraites et un lieu d'accueil propice à la recherche spirituelle, à la réflexion et à la prière.

Le premier juillet marque l'ouverture officielle du 22e Chapitre Général

Le dimanche, 2 juillet, est consacré au Rapport sexennal de Sr Geraldine Hagel, supérieure générale.
Les capitulantes reçoivent le Rapport avec un enthousiasme qui se manifeste par une ovation debout.

Au programme des jours suivants, la présentation des Provinces et vice-province ainsi que le
Rapport de la Trésorière permettent aux capitulantes un temps précieux d'informations et d'échanges.

The 22^nd General Chapter of the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis is held from July 1st to July 24, 2006 at the St. Gildas de Rhuys Abbey (France) whose foundation by St.Gildas
goes back to the VI Century.
This property, purchased by Mother St. Louis, Foundress of the Congregation, is today a retreat house and a welcome center favorable to spiritual research, reflection, and prayer.

The first of July marks the official opening of the 22nd General Chapter.

Sunday, July 2, is set aside for the Six-Year Report of Sr. Geraldine Hagel, general superior.
It receives much acclaim and a standing ovation.

The program for the following days includes the introduction of the Provinces and vice-province as well as the Treasurer's Report and allows the capitulants some precious time for information and sharing.

L'étude des deux grands sujets proposés occupe le temps avant l'élection de l'Administration générale.
Il s'agit des PRIORITÉS et de la MISE À JOUR DES CONSTITUTIONS.

The study of two important subjects is suggested and fills in the time prior to the election of the General Administration. It concerns the PROIRITIES and the UPDATE ON THE CONSTITUTIONS.

PRIORITÉS
PRIORITIES

Suite au travail élaboré dans les différentes provinces et vice-provinces, durant l'année 2005-2006, les Chapitres provinciaux ont fait parvenir au Chapitre Général les priorités choisies lors de leurs assises.
Il s'agit d'engagement en pastorale, de valeurs humaines et spirituelles, de projets… de nature «à nous stimuler davantage pour notre mission Sœurs de la Charité de Saint-Louis dans le monde et l'Église.»

La tâche des capitulantes est de trouver les orientations de la Congrégation pour les 6 années à venir. Cette démarche est menée sous la direction de deux animatrices :
Mesdames Mary-Anne O'Hara et Rosalie McDermott.

Following an elaborate follow-up in the different provinces and vice-provinces, during 2005-2006, the provincial Chapters sent the selected priorities of their sessions to the General Chapter. It pertains to involvement in pastoral work, of human and spiritual values, of projects…an invitation "to stimulate us anew for our mission as Sisters of Charity of St. Louis in the world and the Church."

The task of the capitulants is to find the orientations of the Congregation for the six coming years.
This procedure is lead by two animators : Mrs. Mary Anne O'Hara and Mrs. Rosalie McDermortt.

MISE À JOUR DES CONSTITUTIONS
UPDATE ON THE CONSTITUTIONS

Les services d'un autre animateur ont été requis pour le travail sur les Constitutions : le
Père Frank Morrisey, o.m.i. canoniste de réputation internationale.
Celui-ci propose, pour les 10 jours suivants, une marche à suivre en quatre étapes bien définies.
Chaque capitulante aura l'occasion de faire des suggestions pour améliorer le texte avant de voter, à l'unité, les différents articles. Le Père Morrisey mène la démarche prévue avec une compétence inégalée. Les capitulantes sont heureuses que ce travail se soit accompli dans un bel esprit de collaboration.

Le bon déroulement du Chapitre Général est assuré par différents équipes dont le travail discret,
vigilant et efficace est vivement apprécié de toutes les participantes. La dernière période est réservée pour l'élection de la nouvelle Administration générale.

The services of another animator were required for the work on the Constitutions :
Father Frank Morrisey, o.m.i., canonist of international reputation. He proposes, for the 10 following days, a process to follow in four well-defined phases. Each capitulant is given an opportunity to improve the text before voting, the different articles. Fr. Morrisey leads the process
as anticipated with an unequalled competence. The capitulants are happy to have accomplished
this work in such spirit of collaboration.

The excellent procedure of the Chapter is assured by different teams that perform an
efficacious and vigilant work, which is much appreciated by the capitulants.

The last period is reserved for the election of the new General Administration.
